Kids bamboo toothbrushes, gentle on little teeth

Our kids' bamboo toothbrushes are sized for smaller hands and mouths, with a compact head and soft plant-based nylon bristles that are gentle on little teeth and gums. The bamboo handle and packaging are plastic-free.

The bristles are nylon, so remove them before composting the bamboo handle. Each child gets their own colour, which has been known to make brushing a little less of a battle.

Why bamboo for kids?

It helps teach children to look after their teeth and the ocean at the same time, without a plastic handle that will outlast them by hundreds of years.

The soft bristles suit young mouths, while the smaller head is designed to reach little teeth more easily and the bamboo handle is sized for smaller hands.

Are kids bamboo toothbrushes gentle on little teeth and gums?

Yes. Our kids' toothbrushes have soft bristles and a compact head designed for smaller mouths. Boar bristles are too coarse for little teeth and gums, but we're working on a kids' toothbrush with naturally soft horse-hair bristles, which will also be completely plastic-free. Watch this space!

What are the bristles made from?

Our current kids' toothbrushes use plant-based nylon bristles. Nylon is still a type of plastic, so while the bamboo handle and packaging are plastic-free, the toothbrush itself isn't completely plastic-free.

Do kids' bamboo toothbrushes go mouldy?

Bamboo can develop mould if it stays damp. Rinse the toothbrush after use and store it somewhere it can dry properly between brushes.

How do you dispose of a kid's bamboo toothbrush?

Remove the nylon bristles with pliers (or snap the head off) before composting the bamboo handle. Keep the nylon bristles out of your compost and dispose of them in general waste.
