FAQ's

Q. Why don’t you use hydroxyapatite as a fluoride alternative in your toothpaste pearls?
A. We believe in supporting enamel health naturally and ethically, without relying on synthetic or animal-derived ingredients.

While hydroxyapatite is common in oral care, it's typically made from animal bone or lab-produced nanoparticles, both of which raise concerns for many consumers. It has also been identified as a potential source of trace heavy metals, such as lead.

Our formula takes a different approach:

  • 100% vegan and cruelty-free — no animal-derived ingredients, ever

  • No nanoparticles — just clean, food-grade minerals your body recognises

  • Mineral-based support using calcium carbonate, dicalcium phosphate, zinc citrate, sodium bicarbonate and erythritol to help maintain healthy teeth and a balanced oral environment

  • A gentle, natural approach to oral care — without compromising on performance or sustainability

Q. Why don't you use xylitol in your toothpaste? I’ve heard it’s good for teeth.
A. We use erythritol as our natural sweetener of choice, and we love it for a few reasons:

  • It’s safer for households with pets — xylitol can be toxic to dogs

  • Still delivers excellent oral care support

  • Creates a smoother mouthfeel

  • Less likely to cause digestive upset

Xylitol is slightly sweeter and has strong dental credentials, but erythritol provides similar oral health benefits, with fewer risks and better performance in tablet form.

Q. I’ve read some natural toothpastes contain high levels of lead. How does yours compare?
A. We formulate for both safety and performance. Our pharmaceutical-grade calcium carbonate is certified at ≤3 ppm lead. Based on typical daily use, this equates to less than 0.5 micrograms of potential exposure per day, with likely absorption below 0.05 micrograms.

This is well below international safety thresholds, including those set by the U.S. FDA (3 µg/day) and California Prop 65 (0.5 µg/day).

Importantly, our formula contains no clay, hydroxyapatite, or bentonite — ingredients that have been flagged in recent media reports as higher-risk sources of lead.

Note: This product is intended for cosmetic oral hygiene only and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
