Are Boar Bristles Right For Your Family?
If you’re looking to avoid plastic, boar bristles are one of the best natural toothbrush bristle options available.
Unlike nylon or “plant-based” nylon bristles, they contain no plastic.
Please note: they are not as soft as nylon bristles. They offer a medium-firm brushing feel, so if you have sensitive teeth or gums, we recommend our softer horse hair bristles instead.
For a softer feel, soak the bristles briefly in warm water before brushing. They also naturally soften somewhat with use.

The bristles are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised before use. Natural variation in colour is completely normal and reflects their natural origin.

Yes. The MOSO bamboo handle and natural boar bristles contain no plastic, and the packaging is also plastic-free.
Where do the boar bristles come from?
Our bristles are sourced as a secondary natural fibre from pigs already processed within the food industry. Animals are not raised solely for their bristles. Because boar bristles are animal-derived, we don’t describe the toothbrush as vegan or cruelty-free.
How do boar bristles compare to nylon?
Boar bristles have a firmer, more natural feel than our soft nylon bristles. They are also more absorbent which is why we recommend replacing the brush every 5-8 weeks.

Is this suitable for sensitive gums?

Our nylon versions use soft or medium plant-based nylon bristles, which contain plastic but offer a more familiar brushing feel, and have tapered bristles that provide the best clean around the gum line.
Can I compost a boar bristle bamboo toothbrush?
Yes. The bamboo handle and natural boar bristles are biodegradable, so the toothbrush can go into your home compost or be buried at end of life.
The bristles are secured with tiny metal staples, which won’t biodegrade but contain no plastic.

At The Turtle Tribe, orders are processed within 5 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your payment confirmation email.
Deliveries to parcel lockers are only available for orders above $30.
Our free shipping offer does not include any order that contains Cleaner Oceans Co. products or to international addresses.
Deliveries are made from 8:30am on Monday-Friday.
We ship with Australia Post and other local courier services. To keep costs down we do not offer tracking on every parcel. At our discretion we may apply tracking to your parcel and/or require a signature upon delivery as proof of receipt.
We reserve the right to refuse delivery to some addresses
RETURNS
In order to be eligible for a refund, you have to return the product within 30 calendar days of your purchase. The product must be unopened and in the same condition that you receive it and undamaged in any way.
After we receive your item, our team of professionals will inspect it and process your refund. The money will be refunded to the original payment method you’ve used during the purchase. For credit card payments it may take 5 to 10 business days for a refund to show up on your credit card statement.
If the product is damaged in any way, or you have initiated the return after 30 calendar days have passed, you will not be eligible for a refund.
If the product is faulty you have the right under Australian Consumer Law to a refund or replacement. Please contact us to arrange a suitable solution.
Please note bamboo toothbrush handles can be susceptible to mould if stored incorrectly. Bamboo toothbrushes must be stored in a dry non-humid location prior to use, and kept dry between uses. Stored and used this way, bamboo toothbrush handles will not go mouldy.

To avoid mould, please allow your bamboo toothbrushes to air-dry after use. Do not stand in a wet cup, as constant moisture can cause this natural product to grow mould.
If storing unused brushes for long periods be sure to store away from heat and moisture, in an air-tight container.
